Step-by-Step: Preparing Documents for TNPSC One-Time Registration
Get your photograph clicked
Use a recent photo (within 3 months) against a plain white background. A studio photo or a clear mobile camera photo in good natural light both work. Avoid patterns, colored walls, or shadows on the face. Wear formal attire. No sunglasses or headgear.
Resize photo to 3.5×4.5cm using the Photo Resize tool
Open the Photo Resize tool, upload your photo, and set the target to match the 3.5×4.5cm ratio (approximately 413×531px at 300 DPI). Adjust JPEG quality to keep the file between 20KB and 50KB. Download and save as JPG.
Prepare your signature
Sign on plain white A4 paper using a black or dark blue ball pen. Photograph or scan it clearly with no shadows. Open the Signature Crop tool, crop tightly around your signature only, resize to 3.5×1.5cm proportions, and compress to 10–30KB. Save as JPG.
Scan and compress your certificates
Scan certificates at 150–200 DPI. If any PDF exceeds 1MB, use the PDF Compress tool. For multi-page certificates, use PDF Merge to combine pages. For image-only certificates, convert with Image to PDF first.
Complete OTR on tnpscexams.net
Visit tnpscexams.net and complete the one-time registration. Upload your photo and signature when prompted. Double-check sizes before submitting — photo 20–50KB, signature 10–30KB. Once OTR is submitted, edits are restricted, so verify everything carefully before clicking submit.

Common Reasons TNPSC One-Time Registration Gets Rejected
Photo not 3.5×4.5cm
Wrong aspect ratio is a common mistake. The portal crops or rejects photos that are not in the correct 7:9 ratio. Use the resize tool to set the right proportions.
Photo below 20KB or above 50KB
TNPSC has a minimum and maximum — both matter. An oversized high-resolution photo and an overcompressed low-quality photo are both rejected. Target 30–45KB for safe submission.
Non-white or patterned background
Light blue or off-white studio backdrops are not accepted. The background must be pure white. Ask your studio for a plain white background specifically.
Signature touching the edges
A signature that bleeds to the edges of the image or has very little white margin around it is often rejected. Leave a small white border on all sides when cropping.
PNG uploaded instead of JPG
The portal requires JPG/JPEG format only. PNG files are rejected even if the dimensions and size are correct. Convert to JPG before uploading.
Old or unclear photograph
TNPSC requires a photo taken within the last 3 months. Old studio photos, blurred selfies, or photos with visible JPEG compression artifacts are rejected during manual verification.
About TNPSC Exam Applications
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) conducts recruitment for Group 1 (Deputy Collector, DSP, etc.), Group 2 (Sub-Registrar, Commercial Tax Officer, etc.), Group 4 (Junior Assistant, Bill Collector), VAO (Village Administrative Officer), and dozens of other posts across Tamil Nadu government departments.
All TNPSC applications use a centralized One-Time Registration (OTR) system at tnpscexams.net. You register once with your photo and signature, then apply to individual exams from your OTR profile. This makes it critical to upload the correct photo and signature from the start — errors carry across all future applications.
Certificates in தமிழ் (Tamil) — such as community certificates and nativity certificates issued by the Tahsildar in Tamil script — are accepted. Ensure the scan is clear and the PDF is under 1MB.
All tools on this page work entirely in your browser. Your Aadhar card, community certificate, and other sensitive documents are never uploaded to any server.
