UGC NET & CSIR NET Photo, Signature and Certificate Upload Guide

The UGC NET application is more than choosing your subject and exam city. The NTA form also asks for a scanned passport photograph, a signature, and supporting certificates such as category, EWS or PwD where applicable. This page is built for that upload stage. Use it to prepare UGC NET photo size 2026 files, UGC NET signature size files, and CSIR NET documents before you start filling the application form, so your form is not rejected over a wrong file size.

CSIR NET follows the same NTA upload pattern. Always confirm the exact range in the current information bulletin before submitting, because NTA can revise it by session.

How to Prepare UGC NET Upload Files in 5 Steps

1

Start with a correct passport photograph

Use a recent colour passport photo, not older than three months, against a plain white background. At least 80 percent of the face should be visible including ears, with no mask. Do not use a screenshot, old ID photo, filtered selfie or someone else's photograph. NTA reserves the right to verify candidate details and photographs.

2

Resize and compress photo to 10-200KB

Open Photo Resize and work toward a 3.5cm x 4.5cm passport size. Then use Image Compress if the JPG is still heavy. Keep the final image clearly legible, not just technically small. A safe target is often 50KB to 150KB.

3

Get the signature inside the tight 4-30KB range

Sign in running letters using a black ballpoint pen on plain white paper and crop only the signature area with Signature Crop. The signature JPG/JPEG must stay between 4KB and 30KB, which is tighter than many other exams, so compress carefully. Do not sign in capital letters and make sure it matches your usual signature.

4

Prepare category, EWS and PwD certificates

If you are claiming SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS or PwD/PwBD benefits, keep those certificates scanned and readable. Use Image to PDF, PDF Merge, and PDF Compress to keep certificate number, name, date and issuing authority clearly visible while reducing file size.

5

Preview every file before final submission

Before paying the fee, preview the uploaded photo, signature and certificates inside the form. Confirm the subject code, exam city choices and category details are correct. Save the confirmation page, application number, uploaded photo, signature and fee proof, because these records are needed later for correction window, admit card, result and JRF or eligibility certificate work.

Common UGC NET Upload Rejection Reasons

Photo outside 10-200KB

Large phone photos fail upload, while over-compressed images may not stay clearly legible.

Signature above 30KB or in capitals

The 4-30KB limit is strict, and signing in block capitals can be treated as an invalid signature.

Face not clear or wrong background

NTA expects 80 percent face visibility including ears, without mask, on a plain white background.

Certificate scan not readable

An over-compressed category, EWS or PwD certificate that hides key details can create verification trouble.

About UGC NET & CSIR NET Application Documents

UGC NET is the national test conducted by NTA on behalf of the UGC to determine eligibility for Assistant Professor, Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), and admission to PhD programmes. CSIR NET, also conducted by NTA, covers science subjects for JRF and lectureship eligibility. Both share the same upload pattern, so candidates appearing in either exam can prepare files the same way.

The upload stage connects directly to identity and eligibility verification. The passport photograph should clearly match the candidate, the signature should be readable in running letters, and category, EWS or PwD documents may be verified through official channels. A careless image upload can create avoidable problems during correction, admit card download, result, or the eligibility and JRF certificate stage.

PrepTools keeps this preparation local. Your UGC NET and CSIR NET photo, signature, ID proof and certificate documents stay in the browser. You get the required JPG and PDF compression without sending files to a server.

Appearing for other NTA exams too?

CUET, JEE Main and NEET follow similar NTA upload rules. Keep each exam's files ready.
